From selling houses for many years I have seen my share of “clutter”! It’s easy to work with a client to de clutter their home because we are both excited to make it look as open and fresh as possible! However when I walk into my own home I think – “Well this would look differently if I was putting MY house on the market”! Two dog beds in almost every room? Well there are TWO dogs after all! Anyway here are the first of many ideas on de cluttering your house! Save some for later!

We put a chalkboard up on our kitchen wall. It’s great when we run out of something – “Easy Off” Kleenex – etc. We write it on the board and the next person going to the store knows exactly what we need. It works great! If you have kids it would be good for activity schedules! That way everyone knows when to be on the hockey field!

A shelf in the kids room with baskets or colored plastic boxes works great for hiding toys and games. Plus it makes the room bright! If you have a high couch or bed, baskets underneath make great storage areas. Baskets can be shoved underneath the couch. Or if they show make them all look the same and keep them neat! Things like say camera equipment can be stored out of sight. Stuff you don’t use every day is very stashable!

My kitchen is a mecca for organization needs! I am a true “home chef” (watch HomesnCooking you tube) meaning I own multiple sets of plates, tons of bowls cook books galore, kitchen “roosters”- the works! I have a Stainless Steel restaurant shelf (see photo) that works amazingly! I love the look it gives my kitchen. Like a Williams and Sonoma store. My favorite is the Fondue pot that I have never used and most likely never will. Why do I keep it? It’s cute! Look on line for restaurant shelving. It’s super easy to put together and I have hauled it from house to house over 20 years! Love it!

If you are like me you tend to buy the same thing over and over again! I never remember what I have. Pasta for example. Get some glass containers and stick the pasta inside. It’s now airtight and you know what you have! I have a mysterious “moth” family that lives in my pantry. I have done everything and they keep COMING back! If they can get past my glass containers they can HAVE what they found! More to come! Off to buy containers!
